A month and a half has come and gone. I honestly can't believe it is October! The time has flown by, but at the same time it feels like it has been so long. I had an okay week. I don't really remember all of the week because I had so much going on.
I had lots of late nights staying up to do homework. Tuesday and Thursday were very long days because my classes were an hour and fifteen minutes and I had work and learn from 4-6. On Wednesday I had water polo practice which was pretty much just shooting practice. Thursday night I had a water polo scrimmage and not many of the girls went to the game so I played a lot of playing time but I was already exhausted from the day and work that I didn't have any fun.
On Friday Abby and I attended the Ice Hockey game with the Guffey guys. It was my first hockey game and the guys were very helpful in explaining what was going on. I also felt like I was able to get into the game more than the football game because it was so fast paced. The only bad part about the game was that it was colder than we thought it was going to be, so we were slightly unprepared. The game was a lot of fun but they lost.
Saturday I had work and learn for 6 hours and was exhausted after. But Susie picked me up and we hung out with some of her high school friends. It was a lot of fun because it was like we all already knew each other. Sunday I had to do my radio hours again, so I went at 11 and 2. After I finished with my second hour I was walking out of the building and a guy walked up to me. He asked me where one of the buildings on campus was. After I explained where it was he shook my hand and left $100 in my hand. I was very confused. He explained that he does this thing called a $100 handshake with college students all over the nation. He said he does it because he knows how broke college students are. I told him that him made my day and could not believe he was just going to give me $100.
That was my week in a nutshell. Hopefully the $100 means that this coming week will be a great week!

Week Five
Hey!
So this week was actually pretty crappy. It felt like the week lasted years instead of just days. I woke up late almost every day for class this week, so had no time to get ready. Wednesday started off awful but in my English class I overheard the guys behind me talking about how the 49ers were possibly practicing on our football field later that day, because of their game against the Rams on Thursday night. I heard they were going to be here at lunch, so during lunch I watched the field with much disappointment as they did not show up. I then had to go to water polo practice, but that was fun because we actually practice and other girls were there besides Drew and I. After practice my friend Morgan and I walked by the field and the LU football team was practicing so we sat in the stands for a little bit till we were kicked out because we "weren't part of the football practice." Later when we went to dinner the 49ers showed up and I got to take a few pictures before the security guard saw other people taking pictures and told them they couldn't take pictures. On Thursday I had another polo scrimmage that went okay.
Friday was team bonding with the water polo team so I went over there and ate dinner and had dessert with some of the girls. After that I hung out with Abby at Guffey for a little bit. Saturday was family day. Abby's family came down from Cleveland, so I was excited to meet them. I had to work for most of the day, but we all had lunch together. We also went to Target to buy Jazmin her birthday present since her birthday was on Sunday. After work I met Abby, her family, Jazmin, Jackson, Susie, and Matt at the football game. I was really excited because it was my first college football game. We won to Missouri S&T, 27-10. Sunday I had to work in the mock radio studio for my Radio Production class. It was really awkward at first and a little stressful because I wasn't sure what I was doing, but by the second hour I had kind of gotten the hang of it and did not mess up as much the first hour. In the afternoon I just hung out with the girls and Jackson and Matt came over.
So sorry for this being published late. I will try to get them posted on Sunday afternoons from now on but I get distracted by my friends easily. Sorry again!

Week Four
I've been here for a month!! Only eleven more weeks till I come home. I can't wait to see everyone's beautiful smiling faces again. I miss all of them!
Anyways, I felt like this week lasted forever and that Friday would never come. But I hit some milestones in my college experience this week, I had my first college essay due on Wednesday as well as my first test on Thursday. My essay was pretty easy and it was only 4 pages of something that changed me before the age of 15 for English. My test was in US History and it was on the late 1800's. I thought it was okay. It was harder than I thought it was going to be, but it was not extremely difficult. We are now doing probability in my math class. It is so basic I sit in class wondering how some of these people don't already know this.
Other than school I hang out with my friends. It is so weird that I can go out with my friends on a "school night," it's not like we actually go anywhere but to each other's dorm rooms. I feel my friends are now my family, because I do all my night time "family activities" with them. We eat dinner together, sit around and talk, and watch TV.
Lindenwood puts on school events and we must attend so many of them for our LUL class. So this past Wednesday my friends and I went to see a comedy show. I went in not expecting much at all, but it was actually really good. They had a lady who was on America's Got Talent come. I'm not sure what her name was. She was so funny and really great at impressions. But it was fun to be able to go to something fun like that without having to pay as well as being walk distance away from it.
I went to my first water polo practice on Monday. My suite mate Drew and I went together and end up being the only 2 girls at the practice (because we are not in season we practice with the guys and are invited to which ever practices we can make). We got there late because Drew gets out of class late and she is my ride to practice. But the guys weren't really doing anything at practice but playing some games. So we worked on passes and practiced turning each other. After most of the guys left we decided to shoot on goal and two of the guys stayed behind to be our goalies. It was so nice to have a semi-practice. On Thursday we had a water polo scrimmage and I made my first goal since I've been here. I was really excited because even in warm ups before our scrimmage I hadn't made a goal yet.
This weekend was a laid back weekend. I basically hung out with Abby and Jazmin all weekend. Friday after class we went to St. Louis Bread Company (aka Panera, but everyone here gets mad if you call it that). So I got real food, yay! Friday night Jazmin had to work so Abby and I hung out with Jazmin's boyfriend Jackson and we went to Home Depot and stole paint samples to hang in her room. We also went to the dollar store and to Walmart so we could stock up on food. Then we came back and Abby and I had movie night. Saturday I had work for 6 hours so I did that then in the evening it was nice enough to go on a run so I went on a very short run came back and watched more movie with Abby and went to Dairy Queen. Sunday I woke up early(ish) and went on a run. Then I did homework and hung out for most of the day.
I wish I could say that my college life is actually way more interesting than this, but it's not. I feel like it's just like what I did in high school, but I get to live with all my friends. I'm having so much fun and look forward to what adventure each day will hold for me.

Week Three
Hey guys!
First off I miss you all so much! It hit me hard this week that I'm actually not going home for the next 3 months. Like this isn't summer camp and I'm not going home at the end of the week. But it's okay. I've been making friends and have started a routine of what I do everyday. The only real hard part is finding food that I can eat. Friday night I got nachos at the burrito place in our newer cafeteria and I got sick after eating them. A lot of the food is tasteless or cold when I get it so I'm still trying to find food that I can eat.
So I've met a lot of people but I have a few main friends that I hang out with every day. Abby is from Cleveland, Ohio, and Jazmin is from right around here. On Friday Jazmin and Susie (she and Jazmin knew each other before Lindenwood) took me to lunch at a Chinese buffet place. It was okay, but nicer than having to eat cafeteria food. On Friday night I went to the cafeteria for dinner and ate the nachos. Afterwards I was not feeling so good. Saturday I had work from 9-12 and 3-6 and didn't feel so good all day. Today (Sunday) I still don't feel good. We also went on a boil alert yesterday, which means that some bacteria got into the pipes near our school and that any water we want to drink we need to boil for at least 3 minutes before we can drink it. I think that is the reason I am not feeling well.
My classes are all going pretty well. I'm really enjoying most of them. Most of my professors are awesome. I really enjoy my Survey of Professional Media professor. We may get off topic easily but it'll still be on topic because some how, everything in media relates back to each other.
Not much else happened this week. It was mostly filled with homework and work and learn. On Monday I am suppose to start water polo practice. I hope it won't be to bad since I haven't had a real practice since the end of July. Hopefully this week will be a good week and not feel like a very long week.
Kisses

Week Two
Hey guys!
I can't believe that I am just about to start my third week of college, I actually feel like I have been here for months. It has been a really long and hard week with lots of homework and my first few quizzes. But last weekend was a three day weekend and a lot of people went home including my roommate. Some many people went home that the parking lot next to my dorm was empty besides about 10-15 cars. Saturday I had Work and Learn in the cafeteria for six hours. After that I was too tired and stayed in my dorm and just watched a movie.Sunday was a lazy day and I hung around and did laundry. Monday people started getting back to campus so more of my friends were back.
I did not have to go to my 9:30 class on Tuesday, so I was excited to sleep in, but I still had to go to my math class at 11. I dread going to that class because it is so boring and too easy since it is for people that want to teach elementary math. I then had a break and went to one of my favorite class so far, US History. My professor it great and makes the lectures interesting by getting us involved. The class also only has about 11 people so it makes it easy to get to know everyone in the class. Wednesday morning I have 3 class in a block from 9-11:50. First I have Survey of Professional Media, which is basically an intro to my major (Mass Comm), and my professor for that class is very funny! Because media is in everything we do we get off topic easily but even when we do get off topic, it is still on topic because it some how always relates back to something involved in the media. My next class is LUL which has nothing to report about because its not really a class. My last class of the day is English and my professor for that class is probably about 75-80 years old. He is also one of the rudest people I have ever met. The way he talks to us when we have a question is so rude I can't believe he is still allowed to teach. We have our first essay draft due this coming Friday, so he told us we needed to go to the Writing Center, but we needed to make an appointment because you can not just walk in. I raised my hand since it was the first time I had ever even heard of us having a writing center. When I asked if he had of knew where I could find the number for the writing center he proceed to tell me in an annoyed and condescending tone "Are you seriously asking me that?! Do I look like your secretary?" I'm pretty sure I turned pale white out of fear that he would kick me out of class, i said "I'm sorry..I just didn't even know we had a writing center..." "Well didn't give you all this information and a packet with everyone's phone number in it at orientation?" In my defense the whole class replied no. All of my other professors are very nice and are willing to answer any questions we have (no matter how stupid). But on Friday he ignored me when I raised my hand to ask a question, which I find immature.
Thursday I had my first water polo "practice" and we scrimmaged the local JOs team SLAP. It was soooooo nice to get back into the water but it was sooo weird because we played in an indoor pool. It was so hard to hear all the girls and the fact that I don't really know who they are and their voices so the echos of being inside made it really hard to play. But I had a few good steals and an almost shot. The girls seem like they are going to be a lot of fun to hang around with.
This weekend my roommate left again so I had the room to myself, which is really nice, but gets kind of lonely as well. Because when I don't have anyone to go to a meal with she isn't here to go with me. So Friday night I hung out with my friend Abby and we went to her friend Michael's dorm and hung out with the "4th Floor Guffy Guys." They are pretty awesome, we mostly play video games and watch random YouTube videos. Saturday I was with some of the girls from my dorm who live on the bottom floor. We went to QuickTrip, which is basically 7-11 but a little bit better, and I got a milkshake there. It sounds really weird, but it is awesome. Then we went back to the dorm and watched Mean Girls and Bad Ink.Today I mostly just hung around working on some homework and then went back to Guffy with Abby tonight. (That's why this is being posted so late)
Anyways I wanted to show you a little bit of what my campus looks like so attached is two pictures. One is of Irwin (The dorm I live in) the other is a picture of Evans Commons (which is a rec center and one of our cafeterias, it is also attached to our basketball gym). I will take more pictures throughout the week so you can see the campus better. Also I will take a picture of Mr. Reed, the ground hog my friend Morgan and I named!
Love you all!

Week One
Hey everyone!
So I decided that the best way to keep everyone up to date with every thing going on would be to start a blog, since I probably won't be able to call everyone every week. I will try to do one post a week on either Saturday or Sunday, but things might get a little busy so if I don't post every week I'm very sorry.
So to start at the beginning, I moved into my dorm on Wednesday, August 21. The only stuff I had for my dorm was my clothes and some things to put up on the walls. I met my roommate, Jaylen. She is from a small town in Southern Illinois. It's only been a week and a half so I don't know if she is going to be a great roommate but right now it seems to be working. For the rest of Wednesday I mostly set up my room. Thursday and Friday I had orientation where we did things with all the freshmen and also broke into our LUL class groups (a class we have to take as a Freshmen that helps get involved with the campus). On Saturday I went to the St. Louis Zoo with my mom, which is a free zoo! How cool is that?! Sunday my mom left me to go home and I mostly just hung out in my room since it was too hot and humid to do anything really.
On Monday I started class. I have three classes everyday except on Fridays I only have two because I only have LUL twice a week. My Monday/Wednesday/Friday classes are Survey of Professional Media (I love my professor, he is so funny), LUL (we don't actually do very much in this class), and English (my professor is a little crazy and his class syllabus is messed up and our whole class never know what we are suppose to do for homework and what we are doing in class). My Tuesday/Thursday classes are Radio Production (I have to be "on air" for ten hours this semester, but it's not real radio, just a recording, but still sounds like it'll be fun), Concepts of Mathematics (I thought this was going to be an actual math class, but it's not really. I actually freaked out when I walked into the class because it said Statics on the overhead and I was worried because I only made it to Algebra 2/Trig in high school. Turns out this class is for people who wish to become elementary school teachers and my homework is for like 3rd graders. Maybe it'll get harder, but I doubt it.), and my last class of the day is American History: Post Civil War to World Powers (I'm very excited about this class because it seems like it is going to be a lot of fun and there is only about eleven of us in the class. Fun Fact: we have to sign the roster the first week of class to state that we were there for class and in my history class I was originally the only girl in a class of ten. But I'm guessing some guys dropped the class and some girls added so there are about 5 girls now). On Tuesdays and Thursdays I also do Work and Learn from 4-6 (2-4 your time) and on Saturdays I work from 9-12 and then from 3-6 for a combined total of 10 hours a week. By doing Work and Learn it takes off of my tuition, yay! I work in the cafeteria which isn't as bad as it sounds. I haven't had to cook anything yet (thank god!). I've had to pass out bananas, apparently people really like them and try to take like 5, but then we run out of them, so everyone is only allowed 2. I've also had to take the clean dishes (the ones the students eat off/use) of the racks and stack them, as well as wash dishes in the kitchen, and I served food at dinner Saturday night (which was the hardest job I have had).
Wednesday I had a water polo meeting and I met most of the team. It seems like it is going to be a lot of fun and my suite-mate is on the team as well. We have conditioning this semester and only have one to two practices a week, a few scrimmages throughout the semester, and a couple of games as well (I don't understand how we are having games if we are not in season). I was really nervous and not sure if I was going to play before the meeting, but I am now pretty sure I want to play.
That's all I have for now guys! I miss and love you all so much and can't wait to hear from you guys!
Kisses~Heather
